Another internationally renowned specialist ensemble for the music of our time, the Ensemble Modern, makes a guest appearance during the Salzburg Passages with one of the newest works by Pierre Boulez (as the first performance in Austria) as well as orchestrated versions of the sensational Studies for Player Piano by Conlon Nancarrow. Thus one of the great heroes of the European avant-garde movement meets one of the most eccentric representatives of New Music in America.
