Mozart Children’s Orchestra of the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation
Founded under the initiative of Matthias Schulz, the Mozart Children’s Orchestra is an ensemble for 50 young musicians between the ages of 7 and 12 from music schools in Salzburg and the Bavarian countryside. The Orchestra first performed in public in two concerts at the Mozartwoche in Salzburg in January 2013.
The Mozart Children’s Orchestra aims to motivate young musicians. We are convinced that Mozart’s music is particularly suitable as the centre for such a project and we hope the Orchestra will provide a strong incentive and an exemplary contribution to early musical training. Even very young musicians are capable of fulfilling the technical and musical demands of works by Mozart and other composers and of conveying their enthusiasm to audiences. The director and conductor of the Mozart Children’s Orchestra is Christoph Koncz, while individual tuition is in the hands of Hildegard Ruf and Brigitte Steinschaden (violin), Herbert Lindsberger and Elmar Oberhammer (viola), Astrid Mielke-Sulz (cello), Erich Hehenberger (double bass) and Georg Winkler (woodwind).
