Successful Presentation by the “Friends” in Munich
published in: General
This week, the “Friends of the Salzburg Festival” invited their Munich-based supporters to the Künstlerhaus am Lenbachplatz in order to present the 2012 Festival program. 300 Friends heard from Artistic Director Alexander Pereira, Festival President Helga Rabl-Stadler and Director of Drama Sven-Eric Bechtolf what to expect from the 2012 season of the Salzburg Festival: from the Ouverture spirituelle before the official Festival opening to the final highlight, the Festival Ball.
A musical preview of the coming summer was provided by Thomas Tatzl and Regula Mühlemann with “Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen” from Die Zauberflöte – the opera with which Nikolaus Harnoncourt returns to Salzburg as an opera conductor – and a duet from Das Labyrinth, “Part the Second” of Die Zauberflöte.
Heinrich Spängler, President of the “Friends”, thanked Hans-Werner Jacob, the President of the “German Friends”, for the 1.2 million Euros in donations which are raised in Germany every year, and are delivered as a programming support directly to the Salzburg Festival. Members of Next Generation – young supporters aged 45 and under, under the leadership of Barbara Unterkofler and Philipp Spängler – were well-represented.
