In 2012, ORF (respectively RAVAG), which has been the Salzburg Festival’s media partner since 1925, dedicates a particularly rich program focus to the Festival, producing a total of seven large-scale TV events – more than ever before. Once again, its trusted cooperation partner is UNITEL CLASSICA. The program of ORF and ORF/3sat features not only the festive opening gala of the tradition-steeped cultural summer festival, taking place for the first time this year under the leadership of Alexander Pereira, but also highlights like the high-carat operas La bohème, Die Zauberflöte and Ariadne auf Naxos as well as a Philharmonic concert under the baton of Valery Gergiev. Moreover, ORF also records outstanding Festival productions for ARTE and ZDF/3sat – thus, it is responsible for top-quality TV broadcasts at home and abroad. In addition, the ORF program focus offers a multitude of further Festival-related features and related broadcasts on all its media, as well as off-air.
Over 100 hours of programming on TV and radio, live streams and the premiere of the special channel ORF.at/festspielsommer
Altogether, ORF 2, ORF III Kultur und Information, the regional studio and the radio station Ö1 offer more than 100 hours of high-class cultural delights and information all around the Festival event in Mozart’s city. The ORF.at network also gives the Salzburg Festival ample coverage, presenting not only live streams of various broadcasts and the video-on-demand service, but also the premiere of a special channel reporting on the cultural highlights of the Festival.
With the voluminous program package all about the festival, which is probably the most important of its kind in the world, the ORF expands its cultural coverage and thus intensifies its role as one of Austria’s most important cultural gateways. Furthermore, the ORF thereby collaborates in the efforts of the new Artistic Director of the Festival, Alexander Pereira, to open the Festival to a broader audience. “I am happy with this strong ORF presence during this summer. When you celebrate a party, you want as many people to be able to participate. By broadcasting such wonderful operas and concerts live, it is possible to give people many infinitely beautiful hours and happiness”, Alexander Pereira said. The ORF makes this possible, inviting everybody to a great “Salzburg feast” on all its channels – and one thing is guaranteed: viewers at home are always seated in the VIP area, with lots of legroom!
You will soon find information on the broadcast details of any given production on the detailed pages of that production on the Festival website.
