“It was the crush of visitors from Austria and abroad and the feedback from Salzburg’s citizens that convinced us to extend the Festival>Nights and the Children’s>Festival to the entire duration of the Salzburg Festival, increasing the scope of our offerings. Free access to cultural highlights cannot be taken for granted. Therefore, I am all the more delighted that Siemens is able once again to provide such access,” says Wolfgang Hesoun, General Manager of Siemens Austria. About 40,000 visitors enjoyed 26 cultural highlights last year as part of the Siemens Festival>Nights – without admission and before an incomparable backdrop. “This summer, we will show a total of 41 screenings on Kapitelplatz. Apart from highlights of past seasons, our guests will enjoy no less than 12 performances from the current Festival program – some of them at the same time as the premiere’s audiences. This is made possible by the most modern technical equipment and constant innovation.”
More current productions screened than ever before
With La bohème, Die Zauberflöte, Das Labyrinth, Ariadne auf Naxos, Die Soldaten and Giulio Cesare, almost all of this year’s opera productions can be seen on Kapitelplatz. “Those of our audience members who could not purchase tickets, because we do not have enough tickets available, have the wonderful opportunity to experience operas and concerts from the current Festival program on Kapitelplatz. That is unique throughout the world: a festival that broadcasts productions from the current season at no cost. We are very grateful to Siemens, the ORF and Unitel for this opportunity,” Festival President Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler says.
