A Festival Summer, Up Close and Personal
published in: General, Opera
The Festival summer is fast approaching and our rehearsal stages are seeing constant action. The atmosphere is tense, and we are all looking forward to the Festival. But what is going on behind the scenes, during the rehearsals? How do the artists themselves experience their Festival summer in Salzburg? What was it like to reconnect with familiar colleagues? The current blog of the Salzburg Festival gives you a personal insight into the life of selected artists during their summer stay in Salzburg.
Alek Schrader, our Ferrando in Così fan tutte, will describe his impressions. Marlis Petersen (Susanna) and Uli Kirsch (Cherubim) will report on the rehearsals for Le nozze di Figaro and the Festival atmosphere. Malin Byström and Joel Prieto, Donna Anna and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, will share their experiences with us. Last but not least, Erich Schagerl, a member of the Vienna Philharmonic, will record some anecdotes beyond the orchestra pit for you.
Check back frequently – the Festival has never been so open before. Starting on July 10, 2011, you can read our bloggers on the rehearsal process, the city’s atmosphere, and very personal issues, for example their favorite spots in Salzburg.
