SALZBURG FESTIVAL JULY 18 TO AUGUST 30, 2015

188 PERFORMANCES IN 44 DAYS AT 12 VENUES

“Salzburg is the heart of the heart of Europe. It lies at the centre between South and North, between mountains and plains, between Switzerland and the Slavic countries”, said the famous Austrian poet and Festival founder Hugo von Hofmannsthal. The Salzburg Festival was founded in 1920 by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Max Reinhardt and Richard Strauss as a peace project following World War I. Now the Salzburg Festival is going into its 95th season and its magnetic impact is greater than ever. It has often been called the greatest and most important festival in the world.

Please read more about the entire programme in the 2015 Salzburg Festival Press Kit. You will also find short texts in the PDFs on this page.
