Sarah Scherer is a freelance director and actress who works in film, theatre and opera. She trained as a film maker at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles.
In recent years she has worked on numerous productions and projects ranging from theatre and opera to film, music videos and advertising. Her film Golden Shot was awarded the prize for the best direction of a short film at the New York City International Film Festival. Many of her other shorts have been shown at international festivals. As a video artist she has worked on a number of music theatre productions, including Shakespeare, ein Jugendtraum at the Theater an der Wien and Il pastor fido that was staged at the Goethe-Theater in Bad Lauchstädt as part of the 2019 Halle Handel Festival. She has also designed videos for several projects on the freelance scene.
As a very versatile artist, Sarah Scherer is constantly seeking new perspectives and exploring their aesthetic and conceptual qualities. In the process she has worked with various institutions and artist collectives.
