Andrés Gabetta

Andrés Gabetta is one of the most promising Baroque violinists of his generation.
He is a regular guest at major international festivals, including the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival and the Bachwoche in Ansbach. He also appears regularly as a soloist and chamber musician at the Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre, the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Philharmonie in Berlin and Cologne.
Since 2011 he has made a lifelong dream come true, leading his own Baroque orchestra with his sister, the cellist Sol Gabetta. As concertmaster of the Cappella Gabetta, Andrés Gabetta shares the stage with musical personalities such as Sol Gabetta, Giuliano Carmignola, Vivica Genaux, Simone Kermes, Gábor Boldoczki, Sergei Nakariakov and Maurice Steger.
His other regular musical partners include leading Baroque cellist Christophe Coin, with whom he has already recorded many different projects, including Félicien David’s Trio and Quintet and Haydn’s Octet and Nocturnes, as well as Boëly’s String Sextet. Andrés Gabetta and the Ensemble Swiss Baroque Soloists were nominated for a Grammy in 2008 for their recording of Bach’s ‘Brandenburg’ Concertos on Naxos.
Andrés Gabetta has also recorded many unpublished violin concertos, including those by Timmer, Umstatt and Ragazzi. His recording of Vivaldi and Piazzolla’s ‘Four Seasons’ was made on historical instruments and has been released this year on Sony Classical. Andrés Gabetta has also appeared as the soloist in Vivaldi’s Le quattro stagioni as part of a major Vivaldi tour with Cecilia Bartoli in December 2018 and January 2019.
