Armin Thurnher

Armin Thurnher, born in Bregenz in 1949, studied in Vienna and New York, majoring in English studies, German studies and theatre studies. He is co-founder, joint proprietor and editor-in-chief of the Viennese weekly newspaper Falter. Alongside his journalistic career, Thurnher has been active as a freelance author, actor and stage musician since 1970. He has received numerous awards, including the Austrian Book Trade’s 2010 Honorary Award for Tolerance in Thought and Action, and the 2013 Otto Brenner Prize for his commitment to a social Europe. In 2024 he will be honoured with the Austrian State Prize for Cultural Journalism.
