Benjamin Truong

Benjamin Truong is a Vietnamese-German director born in 1991. He is concerned with the accessibility of theater and wants to create places in his theater works that are more beautiful than reality through the confluence of language, music and dance. He is currently working on a play development at HochX in Munich about second-generation Viet Germans.
Since 2018, he has been studying directing at the August Everding Theater Academy in Munich with Sebastian Baumgarten. His productions include Heißzeit by Leah Luna Winzely at Landestheater Schwaben (2023), Der kleine Horrorladen at Deutsches Theater München (2022) and Werthers Lotte at Vorstadttheater Basel (2018) with guest performances at Ost-Passage Theater Leipzig and HochX. From 2015 to 2018 he was assistant director at Theater Basel. He worked with Nora Schlocker, Robert Borgmann and Claudia Bauer. He also assisted Thom Luz at various theaters from 2015 to 2022.
Benjamin Truong has been a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation since 2021.
