Beth Taylor

Beth Taylor is one of the most exciting mezzo-sopranos of her generation. In the 2022/23 season she made her role debut as Arsace in Rossini’s Semiramide at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, her house debut at the Zurich Opera House as Giuliano Gordio in a new production of Cavalli’s Eliogabalo, and her debuts at the Festival Berlioz in La Côte-Saint-André as Ursule (Béatrice et Bénédict), at the Théâtre de Beaulieu in Lausanne in Mozart’s Requiem and with the Orquestra Gulbenkian in Lisbon in Beethoven’s Missa solemnis.

In summer 2022 she made her debut at the Glyndebourne Festival as Bradamante in a new production of Alcina. Other recent appearances have included La Cieca in La Gioconda and Erda, Schwertleite and First Norn in Stefan Herheim’s production of Der Ring des Nibelungen under Donald Runnicles at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Beth Taylor studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and with the Open University. She continues to refine her technique under the tutelage of Jennifer Larmore and Iain Paton. She has participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Sarah Connolly, Susan Graham, Thomas Allen, Sophie Daneman and Emma Kirkby.

In 2022 Beth Taylor won the Elizabeth Connell Prize and in 2018 she won the first prize at the Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Awards.
