Bob Cousins

Bob Cousins is a designer working across theatre, dance, opera and film. He has worked extensively in Australia and his designs have been seen in Hamburg, Zurich, London, New York, Paris, Amsterdam, Bogotá, Berlin, Taipei, Dublin, Utrecht, Los Angeles, San Diego and Montreal.

Designs include sets for The Season at Sarsaparilla, War of the Roses and King Lear for Sydney Theatre Company; Cloudstreet, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Strange Interlude and Waiting for Godot for Belvoir Theatre, Sydney; Moving Target for Malthouse Theatre, Melbourne; Der Ring des Nibelungen for Opera Australia; Weather, Conversation Piece and Motion Picture for Lucy Guerin Inc Dance Company; Complexity of Belonging for Chunky Move Dance Company; Medea and Husbands and Wives for Toneelgroep Amsterdam; and Peer Gynt for the Hamburg Schauspielhaus.

Film designs include Candy, Romulus My Father, Balibo and Ruben Guthrie.

Awards include the Melbourne Green Room Award, the Sydney Theatre Award and the Ralph Hall Myers Award for Promising Young Designers. In 2012 Bob Cousins received a Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship in recognition of his career’s work.
