Christoph Luser was born in Graz in 1980. Alongside his acting studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz he received training in classical ballet. From 1999 to 2002 he was an ensemble member of the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus; in 2002 he moved to the Munich Kammerspiele. He also made guest appearances in many German-speaking theatres, including the Schaubühne Berlin, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Schauspiel Cologne, the Vienna Burgtheater and the Schauspielhaus Graz. He has worked with leading directors such as Jürgen Gosch, Andreas Kriegenburg, Luk Perceval, Stefan Pucher, Falk Richter, Michael Thalheimer, Katie Mitchell, Frank Castorf and René Pollesch.

In 1999 Christoph Luser took part for the first time in Jedermann at the Salzburg Festival. From 2013 to 2017 he was an ensemble member at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg. In 2019 he moved to the ensemble of the Vienna Burgtheater, where he has worked with directors including Robert Borgmann, Andrea Breth, Barbara Frey, Mateja Koležnik and Simon Stone. Most recently, he appeared there in June this year as Philinte in Molière’s The Misanthrope, in a production directed by Martin Kušej. In 2001 Christoph Luser was acclaimed as ‘Young Actor of the Year’ by Theater heute.

Alongside his work in theatre, he has appeared in numerous films and television productions. Since his first feature film, Was nützt die Liebe in Gedanken, by Achim von Borries, he has appeared in the television series Tatort and in cinema films by Doris Dörrie, Margarethe von Trotta, Wolfgang Murnberger and Edgard Reitz; and also in numerous television films, including by Andreas Prochaska and Robert Dornhelm. He performed in the highly acclaimed series Der Schatten and as a new investigator in the country crime film Dunkle Wasser, filmed on the Mattsee, and came to international attention in the second season of the SKY thriller series Der Pass.

In 2024 he appears in Robert Carsen’s production of Jedermann as Guter Gesell /Teufel (Good Companion / Devil).
