Dorothee Mields

The soprano Dorothee Mields is one of today’s leading interpreters of 17th and 18th-century music.
In the 2023/24 season she has performed with Philippe Herreweghe and the Collegium Vocale Gent at venues including the Philharmonie de Paris, the Barbican Centre, deSingel, Bozar, the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Isarphilharmonie in Munich. She has also appeared with the Bachakademie under Hans-Christoph Rademann at the Musikfest Stuttgart, with the Hathor Consort at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and with the lautten compagney Berlin at the Vienna Musikverein.
She also performs regularly with the Netherlands Bach Society, the Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, the RIAS Chamber Choir, the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and The English Concert, the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra and the ensemble of the J. S. Bach Foundation, as well as with conductors such as Stefan Asbury, Michi Gaigg, Paul Goodwin, Emilio Pomàrico, Andreas Spering, Masaaki Suzuki and Jos van Veldhoven.
She appears frequently at international festivals such as the Leipzig Bach Festival, the Festival van Vlaanderen, the Wiener Festwochen, the Handel Festival in Halle, the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival, Styriarte, the Bremen Music Festival, the Heinrich Schütz Music Festival and the Salzburg Festival, where she most recently performed in 2021 under Philippe Herreweghe.
Dorothee Mields’s most important recital and chamber music partners include Stefan Temmingh, Hille Perl, Tobias Koch and the Salagon Quartet. She realized the Renaissance music project Basevi Codex with the Boreas Quartett Bremen.
She has an increasing wide discography, featuring many award-winning recordings. Particularly highly praised were Inspired by Song and Birds with Stefan Temmingh, Handel’s Tea Time with the Friday Academy, Boccherini’s Stabat Mater with the Salagon Quartet, as well as the solo albums La dolce vita and War & Peace — 1618:1918 with the lautten compagney, the latter winning the OPUS Klassik in 2019.
