Francesco Milanese

Italian bass Francesco Milanese was born in Conegliano in 1980 and began his professional training at the Jacopo Tomadini Conservatory in Udine before continuing his studies at the Agostino Steffani Conservatory in Castelfranco Veneto, where he appeared in productions of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Donizetti’s Betly and Verdi’s La traviata. He went on to study singing with Elisabetta Tandura and acting with Lamberto Puggelli, completing his training with Roberto Scandiuzzi and at the Accademia di Belcanto in Modena, where he was taught by Mirella Freni.

Francesco Milanese made his professional stage debut in an AsLiCo production of Nabucco staged as part of the Pocket Opera programme at the Teatro Sociale in Como. He later sang Basilio in a production of Il barbiere di Siviglia for a young audience at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.

Recent and forthcoming projects include the Imperial Commissioner (Madama Butterfly) at the Teatro Verdi in Padua, the Bonze (Madama Butterfly) and Colline (La Bohème) at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, where he has also been heard in Filippo Pedrocco’s Acquagranda and Giorgio Battistelli’s Riccardo III, Tom (Un ballo in maschera) and the King (Aida) for OperaLombardia, Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Teatro Regio in Parma, Angelotti (Tosca) at the Rome Opera, Ferrando (Il trovatore) in Reggio Emilia, Modena and Pisa and Montano (Otello) at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
