Jean Teitgen

The French bass Jean Teitgen studied economics before beginning his singing training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, from where he graduated with honours. His wide-ranging repertory extends from the Baroque to 20th-century music. He has a particular preference for Italian repertory — including Aida, Simon Boccanegra, Don Carlo, Il trovatore, Rigoletto, I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Lucia di Lammermoor, Turandot and La Gioconda — along with French works such as La Muette de Portici, Roméo et Juliette, Samson et Dalila, Hamlet, Manon and Pelléas et Mélisande.
Jean Teitgen appears at numerous international opera houses. In recent years he has performed at the opera houses of Geneva, Florence, Marseille, Montpellier and Monte Carlo among others, at La Monnaie in Brussels, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Paris Opéra and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. In the 2023/24 season his appearances have included Guillaume Tell at the Vienna State Opera and La Vestale at the Paris Opéra. His future engagements will include his role debut as Daland (Der fliegende Holländer) at the Opéra du Capitole in Toulouse, Pelléas et Mélisande in Paris and Vienna, Mozart’s Requiem with the Orchestre National de France in Paris and Bruckner’s Mass in F minor with the Munich Philharmonic.
