The Austrian tenor Jörg Schneider was a member of the ensemble of the Vienna Volksoper for ten years, before joining the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera in 2017.

Recent guest engagements have included Pygmalion in Suppè’s Die schöne Galathée and Soliman in Mozart’s Zaide at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, Mime in a concert performance of Wagner’s Ring under Marek Janowski in Dresden, Iro (Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria) at the Opéra Royal in Versailles and at Paris’s Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Mime (Das Rheingold) at the Hamburg State Opera and Brahms’s Die schöne Magelone at the Vienna Musikverein. He has performed in Belgium, Holland, Germany and Austria on a concert tour under René Jacobs.

He has also sung Leukippos (Daphne) at the Grand Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Narraboth (Salome) at the Stadtheater Klagenfurt, Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Dancing Master (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, David (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) in Tokyo, Flamand (Capriccio) at Müpa in Budapest and the Italian Singer (Capriccio) at the Theater an der Wien.

Other guest engagements have taken him to La Scala, Milan, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Semperoper Dresden, the Stuttgart State Opera, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Zurich Opera House, the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, the Teatro Regio in Parma, the Teatro Comunale in Florence, the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara, to the Mörbisch Lake Festival and the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus and to Tokyo and Hong Kong.

As a concert singer Jörg Schneider has appeared at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Brucknerhaus in Linz, the Philharmonie in Dresden and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

His discography includes recordings of Die Fledermaus (Alfred), Der Vogelhändler (Stanislaus) and Der lustige Krieg (Sebastiano). In 2012 he released an album of operetta arias for the label Capriccio, and in 2022 he released the solo CD Der Mensch denkt und Gott lenkt.
