Set and costume design

Klaus Bruns comes from Mülheim an der Ruhr and studied set and costume design at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Engagements as a costume designer have taken him to the Berlin Schaubühne, Schauspielhaus Graz, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Theater an der Wien, Komische Oper Berlin and the opera houses in Frankfurt, Berlin, Leipzig, Zurich, Hamburg, Hanover, Essen, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Turin and Catania. He works closely with Barrie Kosky, for whom he created the costumes for his productions of Rusalka, Der Ring des Nibelungen, La fanciulla del West, Moses und Aron, Der Kaufmann von Venedig and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Bayreuth Festival, among others. At the Bavarian State Opera, he designed the costumes for The Fiery Angel, Le nozze di Figaro and Agrippina.
