Laurenz Wannenmacher

After studying piano, Laurenz Wannenmacher was brought to the Thalia Theater in Hamburg by Tom Waits for the successful production Alice in 1992. Since then, Laurenz Wannenmacher has been involved in more than 30 theater productions as musical director, arranger, pianist and performer. In the theater he has worked with Claus Peymann (Alpenglühen, Thalia Theater/Burgtheater Wien), Sven-Eric Bechtolf (Die Schlacht, Der Streit, Romeo und Julia, Thalia Theater), Katharina Thalbach (Mit dem Feuer spielen, Thalia Theater), Jan Bosse (Der Menschenfeind, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, and Peer Gynt, Thalia Theater), Ulrike Maack (Die Dreigroschenoper, Schauspiel Kiel), Nicolas Stemann (German Roots, Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen), Anna Bergmann (Bunbury, Thalia Theater), Jette Steckel (Woyzeck, Thalia Theater) and Heike Götze (Woyzeck, Staatsschauspiel Hannover, and Messer in Hennen, Schiffbau/Schauspielhaus Zürich).
For musical theater, he directed performances of Die Comedian Harmonists in Kiel, Mayen and Frankfurt; he wrote arrangements and played the pianist Erwin Bootz. He has also arranged music for performances of the musical Blues Brothers, the revue Kleiner Mann, was nun? and the operetta Im weißen Rößl, among others.
