Ludwig Maximilian Himpsl

Ludwig Maximilian Himpsl is a musician and multi-instrumentalist. He graduated with a degree in French horn from the Würzburg University of Music in 2013. He also received lessons in percussion instruments of various origins from renowned teachers such as Glen Velez, Zohar Fresco, Aleix Tobías and Mısırlı Ahmet.

Himpsl is not only a sought-after percussionist, but also a versatile arranger and composer. His musical expertise has taken him on concert tours around the globe, including Brazil, Egypt, Morocco, India, America and Portugal. He has been teaching rhythmics at the Bode School in Munich for a decade.

He devotes himself intensively to various flutes from all over the world, including the Romanian kaval and the Armenian duduk. This diversity is reflected in the projects of the Ogaro Ensemble and the Ensemble World.Wide.Wig.

In recognition of his artistic achievements, Himpsl received the German Record Critics’ Award in 2020 for the album Dahoam und Retour with the Unterbiberger Hofmusik and was awarded a music scholarship from the state capital of Munich.
