Marc Bodnar

Marc Bodnar was born in Sainte-Jamme-sur-Sarthe (in France) and made his first acting appearance at the age of 17 at the Théâtre du Radeau in Le Mans. He studied at the École de Chaillot in Paris and since then has worked with directors such as Didier-Georges Gabily, Claude Régy, Stanislas Nordey, Alain Françon, Laurent Gutmann and Jean-François Peyret. Since 2006 he has appeared regularly in Christoph Marthaler’s productions, including Maeterlinck at the Munich Kammerspiele, Riesenbutzbach. Eine Dauerkolonie and ±0 – Ein subpolares Basislager at the Wiener Festwochen, Papperlapapp at the Festival d’Avignon, Häuptling Abendwind at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, John Cage’s 44 Harmonies from Apartment House 1776 at the Schauspielhaus in Zurich and Orfeo ed Euridice at the Zurich Opera House. He has also appeared in numerous films and television dramas. At the Bavarian State Opera in Munich he appeared as Knight in Reimann’s Lear in the 2020/21 season and as Lord Barrymore in Giuditta in the 2021/22 season. In the 2022/23 season he returned to Munich in both roles. Marc Bodnar makes his Salzburg Festival debut in summer 2023.
