Pene Pati is instantly recognisable by his “round and sunshine filled voice,” (Le Monde) and is the first Samoan tenor to perform on Europe’s top stages. Displaying a unique musical versatility, Pene Pati feels at home as much in roles by Mozart, Massenet and Donizetti as by Gounod, Puccini and Verdi. An exclusive recording artist for Warner Classics, Pene Pati’s self-titled debut album earned him a string of top awards, and his second album, Nessun Dorma, was released in September 2024. Highlights of his 2024/25 season include Faust (debut) at Opéra de Paris, Rodolfo (La Bohème) at Bayerische Staatsoper, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera and Royal Ballet and Opera, Covent Garden, Werther (debut) with Orchestre de Chambre de Génève alongside recitals and gala concerts around Europe.
Recent seasons have seen Pati make numerous acclaimed operatic debuts including in L’elisir d’amore (Nemorino) at Opéra national de Paris and San Francisco Opera; Roméo et Juliette (Roméo) at San Francisco Opera, Opéra Comique and Opéra national de Bordeaux; Manon (des Grieux) at Gran Teatre del Liceu and Staatsoper Hamburg; La Damnation de Faust (Faust) at Opéra de Monte-Carlo; Lucia di Lammermoor (Edgardo) at Teatro San Carlo di Napoli; Mitridate, re di Ponto at Staatsoper Berlin; La Bohème (Rodolfo) at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Canadian Opera Company; Anna Bolena (Percy) at Wiener Staatsoper; Rigoletto (Duca) at Opéra de Rouen Normandie, Staatsoper Berlin and Teatro San Carlo di Napoli and the title role in La Clemenza di Tito at Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
Pene Pati’s warm and winning personality has helped endear him to audiences around the world and contributed to great competition success in his formative years taking top prizes and audience choice awards at several competitions including Operalia and Neue Stimmen. He received his masters’ degree from the Wales International Academy of Voice.
