Peter A. Bauer

Peter A. Bauer studied at the University of Music and Theatre ‘Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’ in Leipzig with Hermann Naehring, and also studied non-European drumming techniques with Glen Velez (New York), Ahmed Subhy and Khamis Henkesh (Cairo) and Jamal Al Sakka (Damascus). Alongside his focus on Eastern music he appears regularly as a guest musician with Renaissance and early music ensembles, including the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Les haulz et les bas and Weser-Renaissance Bremen. He is a member of lautten compagney BERLIN and the Renaissance ensemble Capella de la Torre. The CD Timeless that he made with lautten compagney, featuring music by Philip Glass and Tarquinio Merula, was awarded an ECHO Klassik award in 2010. Peter A. Bauer has written several film and theatre scores and is a lecturer in percussion at the University of Music and Theatre ‘Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’ in Leipzig.
