Riccardo della Sciucca

The tenor Riccardo Della Sciucca was born in Atri. He studied singing with tenors Romano Emili and Luciano Ganci and soprano Iano Tamar, as well as philosophy at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Milan.

Following early work as a choral singer, he appeared as a soloist in Bruckner’s Te Deum at the Teatro Comunale Maria Caniglia in Sulmona, and in Mozart’s Requiem, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at the Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese. In 2017 he won first prize in the Adriana Maliponte and Angelo Lo Forese international singing competitions in Milan. He also received special bursaries from the Toti dal Monte and Magda Olivero competitions. In the same year he became a member of the Accademia of La Scala, Milan, where in 2018 he made his debut as Nadir in Cherubini’s Alì Babà e i quaranta ladroni. He subsequently appeared at La Scala as Nemorino in a children’s version of L’elisir d’amore. He also sang in Valentino Corvino’s Mettici il cuore at the Teatro Coccia in Novara, and in Rossini’s Petite Messe solenelle at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari. In 2020 he made his debut at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florence as Cassio in a production of Otello conducted by Zubin Mehta, which was broadcast on Italian television.  

Recently he has appeared as Gabriele Adorno in a concert performance of Simon Boccanegra under Michele Mariotti at the Teatro Regio in Parma, as Rodolfo (La bohème) at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center in Japan and as Alfredo (La traviata) at Theater Erfurt. Future engagements include Errico Settebellizze in Nino Rota’s Napoli milionaria at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia.
