Susanne Wende was born in Wilhelmshaven in 1967. She studied at the Charlottenburg Acting School in Berlin, followed by further training at the Academy for Film, Theatre and Communication Coaching Company Berlin. Since 1996, she has made guest appearances at Berlin and Potsdam theatres such as the Brotfabrik Berlin, the Stadttheater and the Zitadelle Spandau (Helena in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream), the Forum Kreuzberg, the Schaubühne am Halleschen Ufer and at the Potsdamer Schlössernacht. Guest engagements have taken her to the Neue Bühne Villach, the Theater auf Tour in Darmstadt, the open-air theatre at Schwarzburg Castle in Thuringia (Goethe’s Stella), the Theaterbahnhof in Frankfurt an der Oder and theatre festivals in Dresden and Avignon, among others.

Since 2013, she has been a permanent member of the ensemble at Schauspielhaus Salzburg as Marthe Rull in Kleist’s Der zerbrochne Krug, Fräulein Doktor Mathilde von Zahnd in Dürrenmatt’s Die Physiker, Frau von Cypressenburg in Nestroy’s Der Talisman and as Jedermanns Frau in jedermann (stirbt) by Ferdinand Schmalz and as Frau Merz-Dulschmann in Sibylle Berg’s Die Damen warten. Most recently, she performed there in Joseph Kesselring’s Arsen und Spitzenhäubchen and Hertha in Adern by Lisa Wentz, which was awarded the Nestroy Theatre Prize 2022 in the category ‘Best Play – Author’s Prize’.
