Tobias Koch, born in Basel in 1986, studied audio design, composition and music theory at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel. He lives in Basel and Berlin and works as a composer and sound artist in the fields of performance, visual arts, film and music.
His works have been presented at the Unsound Festival in Krakow, the Palazzo Esposizioni Roma, the Leopold Museum in Vienna, the Istituto Svizzero di Roma, the Centre national de la danse and the Centre culturel suisse in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, documenta 14, Frieze, the Tate Modern, the Centre Pompidou and the Volksbühne Berlin, among others. His sound design and music compositions can also be heard in several award-winning films, which have been shown at the Berlinale, the Cannes International Film Festival, the Locarno Film Festival, the International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Toronto International Film Festival. Tobias Koch’s score for the feature film Drii Winter (A Piece of Sky) won the Georges Delerue Award and was submitted as the Swiss entry for the 2023 Academy Awards.
