Valer Sabadus

Valer Sabadus began his vocal training at the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Munich with Gabriele Fuchs at the age of 17, before completing his training with distinction as a member of the music theatre masterclass at the August Everding Bavarian Theatre Academy in 2013. In 2009 he made his debut under Riccardo Muti at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival in Niccolò Jommelli’s Demofoonte.

Valer Sabadus achieved international fame in 2012 for his outstanding performance as Semira in Leonardo Vinci’s Artaserse at the Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy, the Opéra de Lausanne, the Cologne Opera, the Theater an der Wien, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Opéra Royal du Château de Versailles and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

In addition to his operatic activity, he is a passionate concert and oratorio performer. He regularly gives song and aria recitals at renowned festivals under leading conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Leonardo García Alarcón, Andrea Marcon, Ottavio Dantone, Alessandro De Marchi, Christophe Rousset, Riccardo Minasi, Christina Pluhar and Michael Hofstetter.

Valer Sabadus has recently enjoyed great success with his solo albums on Sony Classical, including the 2018 Caro Gemello with Concerto Köln, followed by tours throughout Europe, Japan, Russia and Australia, as well as a four-part cycle of concerts at the Philharmonie in Cologne.

His discography ranges from early Baroque works by Monteverdi and Cavalli and Italian sacred and operatic music from the 18th century to works by Rachmaninoff and Enjott Schneider.
He has received several awards, including the Echo Klassik in 2012 for his album Baroque Oriental and in 2015 for Le belle immagini, as well as being named Young Artist of the Year at the International Classical Music Awards in 2013.

Valer Sabadus was an exclusive artist with Sony Classical from 2013 to 2020. In 2020 he was awarded the Handel Prize of the City of Halle.
