Vladyslav Buialskyi

The Ukrainian bass-baritone Vladyslav Buialskyi was born in Berdyansk. He is a member of the prestigious Lindemann Young Artist Development Program of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he has appeared in productions of Idomeneo under Manfred Honeck and Don Carlos under Carlo Rizzi. From the 2024/25 season he will be an ensemble member of the Semperoper Dresden.

In the 2023/24 season he made his debut at the Opéra de Lille as Leporello in a new production of Don Giovanni under Emmanuelle Haïm and sang Walter in Verdi’s Luisa Miller at the Sarasota Opera. He also sang Brander in Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust with the Spanish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Madrid and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra in Warsaw and Berlin.

Vladyslav Buialskyi has participated successfully in many singing competitions, among them the Moniuszko Singing Competition in Warsaw in 2019 and the Tenor Viñas Singing Competition in Barcelona in 2020. In 2019 he won the Brian Dickie Young Talent Award at the ‘Neue Stimmen’ Competition. In 2022 he participated in the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival. He led the Metropolitan Opera Chorus in the Ukrainian National Anthem at the Met’s Concert for Ukraine. A recording of this concert was released by Deutsche Grammophon, and nominated for a Grammy in 2023.
