Zoie Reams

The mezzo-soprano Zoie Reams studied at Lawrence University and Louisiana State University, and graduated from the Butler Studio of Houston Grand Opera.

In the 2023/24 season her appearances have included Dinah in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti and Autumn in Christopher Weiss’s Service Provider at the Minnesota Opera, and the alto solos in Handel’s Messiah at the Washington National Cathedral. Her engagements in the 2024/25 season will include Maddalena (Rigoletto) and Mother in Jeanine Tesori’s Blue at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Recent engagements have included Ragonde (Le Comte Ory) and Flora (La traviata) in Chicago, Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd) at the Austin Opera, Erika in Samuel Barber’s Vanessa at the Spoleto Festival and Lily (Porgy and Bess) at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

In the 2021/22 season she was an ensemble member of the Minnesota Opera, where she sang roles including the title role of Carmen and Nancy (Albert Herring). She has also sung Maddalena at Theater Basel, Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) at the Opera Columbus and Carmen for Opera Louisiane.

On the concert platform she has sung in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the National Symphony Orchestra, in Bruckner’s Te Deum with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, in Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time with the New York Choral Society at Carnegie Hall in New York, in Bernstein’s Jeremiah Symphony with the Philharmonic Orchestra at the Cottbus State Theatre and in Messiah with the Las Vegas Philharmonic Orchestra.

Zoie Reams has won awards including second prize at the Eleanor McCollum Competition of the Houston Grand Opera, first prize in the young artist category at the Classical Singer Vocal Competition and second prize at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Gulf Coast Region).
