Festival maker Gregor Kristen has been an integral part of the Salzburg Festival for 28 years and embodies the deep connection between craftsmanship and artistic excellence like no other.

As the first cutter in the men’s tailoring workshop, he has helped to develop and realize numerous costumes for the great stage moments. His journey began in 1996 when he experienced the magic of opera for the first time – an experience that has stayed with him ever since. With passion and precision, he ensures that every fabric, every cut and every seam fits perfectly to give the artists the best possible presence on stage.

Gregor describes the fascination of the festival as something that goes beyond words – a magic that you can feel and that has not lost its power after all these years. For him, every day at the festival is a new adventure, another step on a journey that continues to inspire and challenge him.
