If you’re a percussionist, you don’t need to be told twice when you hear the words ‘hit it!’ Already centuries ago, Ottoman Janissaries beat their drums when they went to war. But the long history of percussion isn’t just about hitting and bashing instruments – more and more, the many members of the drum family have sided with music of a peaceful nature. Brand-new rhythms and sounds will be presented by œnm . œsterreichisches ensemble fuer neue musik (Austrian ensemble for New Music), from Steve Reich’s Clapping Music to Maurizio Kagel’s 10  Märsche, um den Sieg zu verfehlen (10 marches to miss the victory).
