Summer in Rome: The journalist Jep Gambardella lives his life to the fullest – with extravagant celebrations, encounters with beautiful women and dazzling people. On his 65th birthday, the night owl and notorious seducer throws a lavish party over the rooftops of Rome. However, the celebration unexpectedly marks a turning point in his life. He begins to reminisce about his first great love, thinks about the lost opportunity to become a writer, and decides to change his life.

La grande bellezza is a declaration of love to Rome: in his Oscar-winning film, director Paolo Sorrentino accompanies the protagonist in a flood of images through the seductive and breathtakingly beautiful Eternal City and at the same time, by exposing Italian high society, creates a satirical social drama.
